Features
Analytics you can ask for, with access you can trust
DaySight MCP is a Model Context Protocol server for Workday, packaged as an extension for your desktop AI assistant (Claude Desktop today).
Workforce analytics
Switch on Allow Workday Query Language (WQL) reports in the extension settings to ask about the whole organization, not just your own team.
Executive scorecard
One page of 25 figures covering size, movement, diversity, cost and structure, each against the previous period, with the places that stand out.
Slice it any way
25 dimensions such as function, region, location, cost center, grade and tenure, 34 measures, and 29 ready-made views for the board, CEO, CHRO, CFO and HR business partners.
Narrow to one place
Add a country, location, function or leader to any view for a local team snapshot or a business unit review.
Trends and hotspots
Headcount, hires, exits and turnover over time, and the groups that stand out on attrition, growth, retirement horizon or span of control.
Workforce report as a PDF
Ask for a multi-page workforce report. Sections without enough data are left out and listed with the reason.
Built for big organizations
The worker data is read once and kept in memory for a few minutes, so follow-up questions are quick and do not hit Workday again.
Workforce analytics is still being checked against real tenants. Compare the first figures with a Workday report you trust. See example questions.
Charts and dashboards
Every answer is a starting point. Ask your assistant to draw it, and keep refining in the same conversation.
Charts from any answer
Line charts for trends, bars for comparisons, mix and share charts. Say what you want to see and your assistant draws it.
One-page dashboards
Headline figures plus the charts that matter, framed for the audience: the board, finance, a business unit leader or an HR business partner.
Illustration with illustrative sample data.
Ask about
Core Workday areas. Choose which ones your assistant may use with the "Workday areas" setting.
Workers
Who someone is, their job history, direct reports and organization membership.
Organizations
Supervisory organizations, who manages them, who is in them, and how teams fit together.
Staffing
Jobs and positions, staffing information and job change reasons.
Absence and time off
Balances, plans, scheduled entries and which absence types exist.
Compensation
Compensation scorecards, plans and related reference data you are permitted to see.
Performance and goals
Goals, development plans and mentorships.
Recruiting
Open job postings and requisitions, with their dates and locations.
Talent
Talent pipeline and development reference data where your security group allows it.
Each area needs its scope on your API Client. Workday decides what you can see, so some questions return less for people without the matching permissions.
Easy to set up, easy to use
One file, no developer tools
Claude Desktop runs the extension with its own built-in Node.js. You do not install Node.js, Git or npm.
A short form
Client ID, client secret, two endpoints and a redirect address. The form has sensible defaults for the rest.
Sign in once
The login is stored encrypted in your Windows profile and refreshed automatically, so you normally sign in once.
Just talk
No query language, no report builder. Ask in plain English and follow up the way you would in any conversation.
Safe and private by design
Your access, not more
The scopes of your own API Client set the outer limit and your Workday permissions decide what comes back.
Secrets stay local
The client secret and tokens stay on your computer and never reach the model.
Summaries, not people
Analytics return aggregates only. No names, no individual pay, groups under three hidden and pay figures only for groups of five or more.
Read-only
Your assistant can only use the specific Workday operations the server exposes, and there is no "call any URL" tool.
Where it runs today
| Client | Status |
|---|---|
| Claude Desktop on Windows (Chat tab) | Supported |
| Claude Desktop on macOS | Built, not yet tested |
| ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot Studio | Need the planned central (remote) version |
A central deployment for a whole organization is planned. Until then each person installs it on their own PC.
Try it on your own Workday tenant
Download the extension, register your own API Client and ask your first question. A test or implementation tenant is the best place to start.
